travel-blog

I added a few new subscriptions on youtube. First is raywilliamjohnson, who has a show called "=3" where he does a sort of America's funniest home videos show with viral videos. Next is meekakitty who has random nerdy sort of vlog things that are funny. Last is uploadtour which is the channel for a tour of the UK featuring such artists as Alex Day, Tom Milsom, and Eddplant.

Next up is travelling. So far I've gone to Toronto/Niagra Falls for a family trip when I was younger. I've also gone to a few youth leadership type conferences in Newfoundland and New Brunswick. My biggest trip has probably been my class trip to New York two years ago.

On my trip to new York there were 16 of us including chaperones and we stayed in manhattan for four nights. When we were there we took a night time tour, visited the Empire State Building, saw Chicago went shopping on Fifth Avenue and in Chinatown. One of the most fun nights was when a few of us put on the most rediculous clothes we could find and went walking the streets of New York and we stopped at Columbus Square and I took a bunch of crazy pictures.

I definitely want to go back to New York in the future. I would also like to go to England and France. Some friends and I are thinking about going on a class trip after graduation to somewhere like Cuba. I would like to go to vidcon 2010 in LA but it's too much money right now. I also want to to to Leakycon in 2011 but I wish it was in Boston again rather than in Florida just because it would be closer.

I would also really like to just get a couple friends and jump in a car and just drive somewhere. To me travelling to your destination is fun all in itself.

So if anybody does ever read this, feel free to comment about places that you have been to or places that you would like to go.

Lost again

Last night was the third episode of Lost this season.

Island Timeline: Locke trys to get Richard on his team, and apparently Jacob kept him in the dark just like Ben. Locke finds Sawyer and gets him to follow him through the jungle, where he has hallucinations of a blond kid, dressed like one of the Others, who mentions the rules and how the man in black is not allowed to kill Jacob. Sawyer and TMIB get to the shore, climb down a creepy looking ladder, which collapses on the way down and they get to a cave. Inside is a scale with a white and black stone balanced on either side, TMIB takes the white stone and throws it into the ocean, referring to it as an inside joke. The stones seem similar to the black and white stones found on Adam and Eve in the caves. TMIB then goes further into the cave where some of the survivors names are written on the walls and ceiling surrounded by a bunch of other names which have all been crossed out. All the names also have numbers next to them and each of the survivors names has one of "the numbers" next to them (4 8 15 16 23 42). Names included are Locke, Jarrah, Reyes, Kwon, Sheppard, and Ford. TMIB crosses out Locke and mentions that all the names are candidates for the next protector of the island.

Meanwhile Sun, Frank, Ilana, and Ben are ditched when the Others go to the temple and they are about to follow but Sun insists on burying Locke. They head to the 815 survivor's graveyard and bury Locke and Ben says that he's sorry for killing Locke. Ilana also mentions that Locke is no longer able to appear as other people, which might have something to do with killing Jacob.

LAX timeline: Locke gets home from the airport and his wheelchair lift on his van stalls and he falls trying to get down. Helen comes out of the house to help him get up. Later they are discussing wedding plans and Helen mentions inviting Locke's father. Helen also finds Jack's business card that he gave Locke back at LAX. At work Locke is fired for going to Australia on company time for his walkabout (did Abbadon still tell Locke about this even though the island is gone and Widmore is presumably dead?) and in the parking lot he meets Hurley, who rehires him. At his job as a substitute teacher Locke meets Ben Linus who is a European History teacher. Locke also decides not to see Jack after meeting a terminally ill Rose Nadler and having a conversation about accepting life.

If you didn`t notice, in the cave when they show the name Kwon, you can also see the name Mattingly crossed out nearby. Mattingly was the name of one of the Army group that brought the jughead bomb to the island. They also brought back the numbers this episode. In the LAX timeline, familiar characters seem to keep meeting each other, like how Locke has met Rose, Jack, Hurley and Ben. TMIB was also seen using one of Locke`s signature sayings "Don't tell me what I can't do"

Lost ep 2

Alan: "one of those things that tracks ur steps" Kris: "pedometer" Alan: "no, that sounds like a 4chan chart for graphing how creepy u are"
from Alan Lastufka's twitter

So it seems as though this blog might be turning into a Lost reaction blog

Episode two, "What Kate Does"

LAX timeline

Kate's holding the the taxi driver at gunpoint, with Claire in the back seat. The taxi driver runs away and Kate lets Claire jump out a bit later, but doesn't let her take her bags. Kate gets some guy to cut her handcuffs off and when she looks through Claire's bag she finds baby stuff and she goes back to find Claire. Kate picks her up and drives her to the family that was supposed to adopt Aaron, only to find out that the couple has broken up and can no longer take him. Claire goes into labour and the doctor at the hospital is Ethan Goodspeed (evacuated from the island before the incident). Claire later covers for Kate when the police come looking for her and gives her a credit card.

Island timeline

Dogen tortures Sayid as a test and determines that he has been "infected" (like the French team) and he tries to get Jack to give Sayid a pill. Dogen doesn't tell Jack what's in it, until Jack tries to swallow it, and it turns out that its poison. Dogen tells Jack that Sayid is infected, just like his sister. Meanwhile, Sawyer shoots his way out of the temple and Kate, Jin and two Others follow after him. Kate attacks the others and she goes after Sawyer, Jin eventually leaves on his own, to look for Sun. Kate catches up with Sawyer who tells her that he was going to propose to Juliet. The two Others find Jin and are about to kill him when they randomly get shot by Claire.

So it looks like the Sayid is Jacob theory is out, and we`ve finally found out a little bit about what happened to Claire after she walked off into the Jungle with Christian.

One question I have is, why is it that Juliet, Sawyer, Locke, Dan, Charlotte, Miles, and Jin all got stuck flashing through time. At first it might seem like it was just the 815 survivors and people from the Kahana, but why would it happen to Juliet as well. It wouldn`t be just non-Others that flash through time, because Locke had just joined the Others and he did flash through time. The 815 survivors in the temple (the flight attendant and the kids) also didn`t flash through time. Did the man in black somehow have something to do with who flashed through time? Did Claire experience the time flashes?

So to get away from Lost for a bit, other shows that I follow include:
NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles
House
The Big Bang Theory
America's Test Kitchen
Stargate Universe
Doctor Who
Torchwood

Lost

So this past tuesday was the season premeire of Lost.

So when we left off last season, Ben had just killed Jacob and Juliett had hit the bomb at the bottom of the hole at the swan site.

When Juliett hit the bomb it sent Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Sayid, Jin, Miles, and herself to the future. It also seems to have created an alternate timeline where the plane lands at LAX.

In the LAX timeline, there are some differences from the original timeline as we know (aside from the whole not crashing thing). As the plane first hits turbulence, Rose reassures Jack, as opposed to the other way around, Shannon is not on the plane, however Desmond is, and when going through customs, Sun is referred to as Ms. Paik and not Kwon.

Just after the plane passes the turbulence, the camera zooms out the window and to the ocean floor where the island is underwater.

According to lostpedia, Shannon's absence is a result of a scheduling issue with Maggie Grace, and probably not a significant detail.

Anything that happened after the incident could have been affected in this alternate time line, providing an explanation for any differences we see in the current time line.

In the Island timeline, the survivors are sent forward in time to about an hour after Jacob is killed by Ben. The Swan looks just like it did after Desmond used the failsafe key, and Juliet is still alive, buried in the wreckage of the hatch. Sawyer manages to dig down and Juliet says something about getting coffee, kisses Sawyer and is about to say somthing important before she dies. Later Sawyer has Miles find out what Juliet was about to say, and he comes up with "It worked". Philip DeFranco mentionned an interesting theory that Juliett had been flashing between realities (similar to Desmond's time travelling after using the failsafe key).

In the jungle, Hurley sees Jacob, and is instructed to bring Sayid to the temple, and to bring the guitar case given to him in LA before the Ajira Flight. The survivors (without Sawyer and Miles) travel to the whole in the wall (where Jin had been with the French Team) and are captured by the others. They are taken in front of Dogen who oreders them killed until Hurley says that Jacob had sent them. Dogen opens the guitar case and finds an Ankh, breaks it in half and finds a piece of paper, which supposedly says that they will be in trouble if Sayid dies. They then take the Sayid to a weird healing spring type thing (fountain of youth?) where the water is brown (which the Others find unusual). They put Sayid in the water face down, and hold him under even when he starts struggling. When they pull him out Dogen says that Sayid is dead. The Others seem to be quite calm despite the fact that Sayid has died. And just before the end credits, Sayid is shown to be alive.

I've seen a theory that Sayid has come back to life as Jacob (similar to the man in black's reincarnation as Locke). This theory goes well with how calm the Others seem to be after Sayid dies. Perhaps the paper in the Ankh told the Others to heal Sayid's body and kill him, to allow Jacob to be reincarnated.

Back at the statue Ben discovers that Locke is not really who he claims to be when he is shown the body of the real Locke. Ben is then forced to lead the way for Bram and his companions into Jacob's chamber, where they are attacked by the smoke monster. The fake Locke then admits that he is the smoke monster. It seems as though the smoke monster/man in black has been impersonating people like Alex and Christian Sheppard.

So it will be interesting to see how the whole alternate reality thing works out.
